Clifton GillespieDirector of Sanitation
Cliff was appointed Director of Sanitation in July 2023. He has over 15 years of public service experience, including 12 years in local government management with the City of Dallas. He has been with the Department of Sanitation since 2019, having previously served as Interim Director, and as Assistant Director for Operations, overseeing public and support services, including refuse and recycle collections, brush and bulky item pickup, fleet operations, environment, safety, training, outreach and engagement, and enforcement. Prior to working with Sanitation, Cliff served in various management roles with the City's Office of Arts and Culture, Department of Code Compliance, and City Manager's Office. Before coming to the City of Dallas, Cliff previously worked for the Louisiana State Senate as a legislative researcher.
Cliff is a certified manager of integrated solid waste management systems by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), and serves on the board of directors and as treasurer of the Texas Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (TxSWANA). He holds a Master of Public Affairs and Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Louisiana State University.
